Salvage. This, in short, is the concept behind a new restaurant that has opened in the heart of Milan’s Navigli district early last April to coincide with the Salone del Mobile. For one, it sees the salvage of an ex-karaoke bar that had been closed for a number of years; it also sees the salvage of unwanted timber, transformed into furniture by a workshop made up of inmates — reusing, as it were, their manual skills —; and finally the taste of Calabrian cooking, given a new twist by chef Caterina Malerba.
